lửa bùng điệu múa tay mềm, đất quê men bóng tạc nên câu hò
Perhaps no child from the pottery land of Lai Thieu is unfamiliar with this verse. The lyrics awaken the vitality of ceramic fire. The flame dances and brings many surprises and mysteries.
Since 1846, the Chinese who came to do business in Lai Thieu brought with them three famous ceramic styles from Guangdong, Fujian, and Chaozhou. The artisans from afar, with their skilled techniques, met the rich clay and kaolin of Lai Thieu, situated beside the Saigon River, with convenient transport routes both by water and land, developing a renowned local ceramic style that, to this day, when mentioned, brings back memories – cherished memories.

Nostalgia for the past is precious, as the beautiful peony has captivated many potters and distant guests – Tu Hu has rekindled it in the collection “Nostalgia.” The peony is the national flower of China, but beauty cannot be confined by nationality, skin color, or ethnicity. A flower is the embodiment of the beauty of heaven and earth, blooming for a fleeting moment yet etched in the heart for eternity. The ambition continues, from the first distant craftsmen who set foot here to the local artisans year after year who keep the kilns ablaze, to us – the new craftsmen – who are diligently researching techniques and creating art day and night, to shape a new Lai Thieu, Song Be, or more broadly, the craft of pottery in Southern Vietnam.
The aesthetic sensibility is hidden in the raised plate, the pair of rice bowls, the drinking cup… Tu Hu believes that each user, each simple object in the home, continues the legacy of ancient pottery, telling the story of culture and preserving the beauty of the Vietnamese kitchen. Tu Hu chooses to coordinate colors, reimagine the peony blossoms in a way that reflects our understanding – to bring a graceful and gentle demeanor of the new era, while still imbued with warmth every time we gaze upon it at the family dining table.

the distant boat on the horizon
the fragrant flower blooming infinitely in the field
the familiar melody resonates in our hearts
a nostalgic song echoing along countless paths
