ECO PRINTING

The ideas all started with our occasions experimenting printing and painting with leaves, flowers and cloths. These experiences have always decided and executed with the “Why-not?” spirit. Along the flow of time, they gifted us with great experience, knowledge and application. After such experiments, eco-printing technique with Billy goat weed leaves and clothes made from jute plant by some ethnical groups in the North of Vietnam, we finally reached our satisfaction and began the layout design on the full dish set. During that process, we eliminated almost all common designer’s’ intentional habits, and focus all the energy and sense on pressing, printing and watching the interaction of these materials with each other, keeping an eye on the weight of color when leaves, jute plant cloth and paint touch our ceramic. It was such a wonderful and exciting time when we continuously checked the process and observed the changes and waited for what came after that.

The patterns from the Billy goat weed leaves’ veins are not busy and the fur on the leaves’ surface ensured leaves absorbed enough amount of paint. These conditions enhance the patterns to form and reveal under our artists´ hands effortlessly. The good moisture absorbance supported by the thickness of jute plant cloth helped us easily recognize the perfect timing for attaching this cloth material on our ceramic products. The random color weights on the patterns created from the thickness of the different leaf veins began to show up spontaneously. That each primitive thread in jute plant cloth start to form in different sizes whether it was pressed onto a vertical, horizontal or even diagonal surface brought us from one surprise to the next during my creative period. Above all such feelings the experiments with these two materials bringing to, in the end, all that stayed was inevitable FAMILARITY and the naturally CLOSELY feeling that nature brought to us.

Each ecological print is a unique masterpiece; no two creations are exactly alike. The serendipitous interaction of elements from leaves, flowers, and tree bark as they dance across the fabric creates organic, vibrant images that celebrate the rich diversity of our ecosystem. Every ecological artwork carries a story, resonating with the emotional depth of rich experiences, the artist's intentions, and fostering a deeper connection with the viewer. These emotions are difficult to find in mass-produced industrial products. The process of ecological printing invites us to engage directly with the natural world. As we gather materials from the surrounding flora, we are not only awed by their delicate beauty but also cultivate a profound appreciation for the intricate processes of nature, nurturing a deeper bond with our environment. In essence, ecological art transcends mere visual beauty; it embodies a philosophy of living harmoniously with nature. It calls upon us to cherish, protect, and deepen our connection to the magnificent world around us.
